What Are The Leading Future Trends For The Education Industry

In the past, the only things we needed to study were books, notebooks and a pencil. Today, technology has influenced every single industry, including education. If we take a look back, we’ll notice the magnitude of the change in education over the years.

These days, most classrooms are tech-equipped. Students have several tools to help them improve their knowledge, including computers, tablets, artificial intelligence, and augmented reality. Let’s look at some of the most notable trends in the education industry.

When people say “technology has brought us closer”, they’re right. Technology has removed geographical boundaries that separated students  from their teachers in other regions. Although many students prefer in-person instruction, they also can learn remotely by taking online training courses

Besides, access to information is a lot easier. While students had to research information in books in the past, they can now find anything they need in a matter of seconds. Now, we know that high-speed Internet isn’t available everywhere yet, but 5G might be more common in the future than today.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence might be one of the most in-demand tools of today (and the future). In fact, it is expected to grow up to 48 percent over the next few years. AI is a discipline that allows computers to imitate human behavior. Therefore, it is a potent tool that teachers can use for their benefit.

Teachers usually struggle with a lot of paperwork after returning from school, so their work does not finish after their time there. AI can help them revise tests to focus on more relevant aspects, like teaching their students and improving their skills. Eighty-six percent of teachers believe that technology prepares students for a better future.

Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality

Imagine being a history teacher and being able to transport your students to another era. They can see dinosaurs, the construction of the Egyptian pyramids, or they could simply travel to another country without leaving the classroom. Sounds like sci-fi, right? Well, it’s not. There are technologies that allow teachers to set a completely different school atmosphere: virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).

VR and AR are different, but they could be used for the same purposes in education—take students to a different environment without leaving the physical classroom. Using VR headsets, students can experience how life used to be in the past or how things will be in the future. It’s like having a time machine in the classroom.

That’s why this trend has become so in-demand in recent years. And it’ll probably continue to be so in the future. According to market analysts, this industry is worth over $1.5 billion. Although this training process is meant to be used on individuals, all classrooms in the future will probably be VR-powered.

There’s a lot of research about how games can help students engage with their classes. Yet, we live in a world where technology rules everything. Young kids of today are tech natives. They understand how technology works and get involved with it. So why not leverage this and teach them through games and technology.

Gamification has been a significant trend in most schools as this helps students get involved with the class and enhance competition. Students feel more motivated to get good grades because they identify learning with games.

One of the gamification benefits in the classroom is that students develop problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and creativity. These are some of the most indispensable soft-skills for success at work. So everybody should have them. These skills will be more important in the future.

Internet of Things (IoT)

IoT has the potential to transform the education industry completely. Tutors and teachers can monitor live homework activities to improve the education dynamic at home. With IoT, teachers could also automatically send the grades to the children’s parents. One of the most outstanding examples of IoT classroom tools is the use of smartboards. This is an excellent and graphic way to show students the information.

The Future of Education with Tech

It is fascinating to see technology’s potential to change society’s path. For now, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality and the Internet of things are shaping the education system in a way we probably couldn’t have imagined before.

In the future, we may even have a lot more tools that improve the whole learning experience. With the major growth in these industries comes a lot of new career opportunities. Many of which won’t require a college degree. In fact, online and in-person courses are already available.
